There is need of only One Thing . . .
I may want but I can live without what I want but when I need, I can not live without what I need.
To be with the Lord is not to want but a need that we can not live without. Some people though they live are dead because they have not fully realized this need in their lives.
Friend, the choice is yours. Take the better part and that is your need to be with the Lord Jesus. After you have done so, I am sure that your life will never be the same again and nothing or no one can take this away from you.
Service and Friendship with the Lord completes a man of God. These are parts that makes up his entire being and he will never be complete if he lacks either one of them. Although they go hand in hand, the Lord Himself said that the better part is to be still and listen to Him. This is the "only one thing" we need. His love and friendship will bring you to serve Him with joy.
Lord, as your servant friend, I have chosen the better part and that is to relax, enjoy your presence, and learn from you. This has been your gift to me since you brought me out of the parish life you gave me. At that time, you told me that I am no longer your servant but your friend. Now, you have again reveal your will for me and that is to step up to another level and that is to be your "servant friend". It is always you who makes up for who I am and what I will be and I just wanted to be with you at all times. May our love relationship grow each day so that I may be strong to resist any form of temptation that will lead me to sin. Bring me much closer to you so that in all things that I do, you will always be praised and glorified. With much love and thanksgiving I pray in Jesus Name. Amen.
